Farmacia Simán

For the past 20 years, I have been deeply involved with Farmacia Simán, contributing to many initiatives and continuing to take on new challenges. While I can’t share every detail of my work, it’s been an exciting journey. Highlights include:

  • Growing the business from just 2 stores in 2003 to over 270 locations across Honduras.
  • Launching the call-center and delivery services to better serve our customers.
  • Driving the digital transformation by helping develop farmaciasiman.com and its mobile app.
  • Exploring opportunities for future expansion.

We’ve steadily opened stores throughout the country, and by the end of 2024, Farmacia Simán proudly operated 275 locations in Honduras. This success is a testament to the incredible team I’ve had the privilege to work with.

Farma Costo

In 2019 we started expanding the pharmacy business outside of Honduras. Instead of using Farmacia Simán as the brand name for these pharmacies, we decided to use Farma Costo. So far we have operations in:

  • Guatemala, expanding since 2019:
    • 2019: 1 store
    • 2020: 2 stores
    • 2021: 10 stores
    • 2025: 31 stores
  • Nicaragua, started operations in 2021:
    • 2021: 1 store in Chinandega
    • 2025: 12 stores

Análisis Clínicos Simán

In 2020, we ventured into clinical analysis services, seizing the opportunity brought by COVID to diversify the retail business. We launched Análisis Clínicos Simán to provide COVID testing and planned to expand into other types of tests in 2022.

  • Initially, we operated multiple locations across Honduras, including:
    • San Pedro Sula: 3 stores
    • Tegucigalpa: 3 stores
    • Choloma: 1 store
    • El Progreso: 1 store
However, we have since streamlined operations and currently maintain a single store in San Pedro Sula.

EconoMascotas

Also in 2020, inspired by chewy.com, I saw pet food as a promising business opportunity. Recognizing the potential in Honduras, we launched EconoMascotas. We began as an internet-only delivery service and later opened our first physical store.

  • So far, we have stores in these cities in Honduras:
    • San Pedro Sula: 3 stores
    • Tegucigalpa: 1 store
    • We have been opening more stores and I can't keep pace updating this site whenever we open another one. Please check this link for store locations.
